My New Man Cave Was a Lot of Work But...

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 30, 2015, 10:05 AM
My basement wasn't very productive.
I knew what I needed to do but it was time and money.

Eventually I took the time. I found enough scraps right in the basement to set it all up the way I wanted to.
After that I just needed to buy a few gallons of paint and 4 sheets of plywood.
I covered what I could in plywood and stained it along with hand rubbed beauty clear coat. (4 coats with a rag)
I painted everything else.
Well, my friend helped with a lot of it and most of the painting, along with a bit from the family. It was a huge project.
I have 3 table saws but need 2 more to be how I want it. I will pick up a couple cheap used ones.

Every saw will be dedicated except 1 which will be multipurpose.
The rest will be all dedicated to its own job.

I did most of the wood work myself and even made my own 8' moldings. It was a great project while it lasted.

I put a 2"x 8" board into the first saw and keep going around to other saws and a router and the end result is my own canvas stretcher frames or handcrafted frames for staining.
I've been doing frames for over 2 years now and I think last was #77 so I have made my share.

Below find before and after pics and some others.
Enjoy :eager:

Thanks Gee. Doing ok.
I'm anticipating a good fall. Its been a long time coming so hope it will be worth the wait.
Things started to pick up in the spring, but then summer...
This city dies for the summer while almost the entire population has summer cottages on the lakes. Manitoba is the "Land of 100,000 Lakes".
We feel left out cause don't have a lake house :giggle:
Most people go away for the entire summer and things return to normal after school starts again. Some go away on weekends and work all week.
Its hard to believe really how things slow down.
People start to move again after it starts to cool down.
But then come November/December things slow down again as winter approaches and January is even worse than August as we get the -40 and -50 temps.

I hope you are well. How's the job hunt going. I hope you can find something temporary while you look for that perfect job that you've worked so hard for :)
